The Old Colony: The Village of Einlage in South Russia, 1789-1945. The history of Einlage was recorded from the beginning until 1945, and includes lots of contributions by others who came from this village. The major sections of the book are: i) Immigration and Founding of Old Colony, ii) Einlage, iii) the Land Industry, iv) 1870-The Revoking of Military Exemption, v) History of the Privileges of the Russian Mennonites, vi) Einlage after 1900. However the first five sections take 27 pp. The balance of the book covers every imaginable aspect ofthe village from Floating logs on the Dnieper, to Beer Trade, the Friesen-Koop Factory, The Stone Quarry, Village Administration, maps, lists of those who died 1902-1916, etc., etc. (order form).
A Generation of Vigilance: The Lives & Work of Johannes and Tina Harder. For several decades, the Harders were the most prominent and influential MB church and conference leaders in British Columbia. Says Regehr, their story illustrates “a process of religious accommodation similar to that experienced by many other immigrant groups and also by others churches when faced with rapid change” - one not without controversy. They held high standards of church discipline and strict codes of Christian conduct. As well, they “provided much appreciated leadership during a time of very rapid change as Mennonite immigrants from the Soviet Union tried to establish themselves in Canada.” (order form).
