Frieda Peters (1918- ) collection. -- 1890-1943. -- 5.5 cm of textual records

Administrative/Biographical History
Frieda Peters was born In Petersdorf, Yazykovo, South Russia to Daniel D. Peters and Susanna Dahl. She was the second of five children. She immigrated to Canada with her family in 1926, first residing at the Frank Peters farm in Rosthern, Saskatchewan and later settling in Lacombe, Alberta. Frieda took courses in psychology, nursing and occupational therapy. This led to her work in a mental hospital in Ponoka, Alberta and the Michener Centre in Red Deer, Alberta - retiring in 1980. Among her other contributions was a six year role as President of the Alberta Women in Mission organization.

Custodial History
The records were donated by Frieda Peters through Helen (nee Pauls) Friesen to the MHSA in 2004.

Scope & Content
The fonds consist of unpublished musical notebooks and a published dress making reference book.

1-2 The file consists of Daniel Peters' (father to Frieda) unpublished, handwritten notebook of four-part harmony music written in Gothic German script and Ziffern (numbers). The first song is titled "Meine Herzen flussen ueber". It also includes two sheets of poetry believed to be written by Daniel: "Lichtenau zu den 13 Juli 1924" and "Sehnsucht nach Kanada". The notebook printed with a hectograph, is softcover and 40 pages long (18 cm x 24 cm x 1 cm) - 1926

1-3 The file consists of Susie Peters' (sister to Frieda) unpublished, handwritten notebook of music written in Ziffern. The first song is titled “Wonderful”. Some pages are tipped in from other sources. It is 30 pages long and has no cover ( 23 cm x 18 cm x .5 cm) - 1930s

1-4 The file consists of Henry Penner's (husband of Frieda's sister Susie) unpublished, handwritten notebook of four-part harmony music written in English and German and Ziffern. The first song is titled "Das treue Mutterherz". The notebook printed with a hectograph, is hardcover and 50 pages long (26.5 cm x 21 cm x 1 cm) - after 1940

1-5 The file consists of Susie Peters' (sister to Frieda) unpublished, handwritten notebook of four-part harmony music written in Gothic and Western German script and Ziffern. The first song is titled "Die Stadt Gottes". The notebook printed with a hectograph, is hardcover and 16 pages long (25.5 cm x 20 cm x 1 cm) - 1940s
