John H. Janzen (1920-2000) fonds. -- 1959-1968. -- 7 cm of textual records
Biographical History
John H. Janzen (24 Feb 1920 - 28 Apr 2000) was born to Heinrich and Maria Janzen in the Molotschna, South Russia. He came to Canada with his parents in 1925, first to Duchess and then Chinook. After two years the family moved to the Rosemary area. While at a Conscientious Objector camp at Whitecourt, he took an electrician course by correspondence and later got his Certificate at the technical school now known as Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. He volunteered his electrician skills in the building of several churches in Alberta.
He married Elsie Martens on 30 November 1946 and they had three children. They farmed near Rosemary until their son was married and then they moved into Rosemary while their son took over the farm. John was an active member of Rosemary Mennonite Church, enjoyed music and sports. He volunteered with Mennonite Disaster Service.
Custodial History
The records were transferred by Mrs. John H. Janzen to the Mennonite Church Alberta and then donated to the MHSA in July 2002.

The fonds consist of documents related to John H. Janzen's service to
the Mennonite Disaster Service and Canadian Mennonite Conference Board
of Christian Service.
