Biographical History
Clarence Blake Friesen was born in Langham, Saskatchewan to Cornelius and Elizabeth (nee Thiessen) Friesen. He is married to Louise Toews (1912-),
daughter of David and Margarethe (nee Friesen) Toews. Blake and Louise lived in various communities in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia, always becoming deeply committed to a congregation and getting involved in various Mennonite community service organizations and efforts. Blake held a formative role in the development
of the Mennonite Foundation of Canada, the Mennnonite Historical
Society of Alberta and became involved in the educational rights advocay for the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite Church. It is his contributions to the Mennonite Foundation of Canada for which he is best known. He and Louise had three children: Gary (1946-), Alan (1948-), and Howard (1951-).
